It’s nice to be noticed, so it should come as no surprise how excited our team was when we found out Charity Navigator had rated us as 4-star charity. With four stars the highest a charity can receive, it really drives home that we’re doing everything we possibly can to achieve our mission and embrace our supporters.
Charity Navigator evaluates ten times more nonprofits that most other review groups, so there are a lot other organizations we’re compared to. We actually have now been rated a 4-star charity six years in a row. Only 8% of reviewed charities achieved this feat, and we’re one of them.
Our mission is, of course, to get more kids onto the playing field and make that field an even one for everyone. Knowing that our supporters and donors trust us truly validates that Good Sports is moving in the right direction. With that trust, we can source out more equipment, work with more youth sports and fitness programs, and motivate our staff to be trailblazers.
Looking back, we see how much we’ve done not just on the field (or rink, or court, or turf), but how much we’ve accomplished internally. The individuals on our team manage different facets of our organization, pioneering toward different goals. From the crew that speaks directly to the programs we work with to our finance team and our group that interacts with volunteers, there is no one here at Good Sports that didn’t help propel us toward this 4-star achievement.
It’s important to remember that our organization impacts more than kids and their respective communities. Our donors, board members and general supporters want to know their efforts are valid. Specifically: is their choice to fund us the right one? With Charity Navigator behind us and that 4-star rating up on the wall (and fridge, and website, and social media), we’re confident Good Sports is providing satisfaction to kids and supporters everywhere.
