On behalf of the entire Good Sports team, we’d like to thank everyone who joined us for our 19th Annual Boston Legends Gala. This year’s gala will forever hold a special place in our hearts, as we celebrated the work and impact that’s been made over the past 20 years… 20 years of creating equitable access and opportunity for youth athletes in need across the country.
This was truly a night that we will never forget. You could feel the energy in the room and the excitement guests felt finally being back together for this memorable event.
Over 400 guests enjoyed a silent auction, dinner with special guests and of course dessert and dancing to conclude the night. Auction items ranged from autographed memorabilia from Stephen Curry, Napa Valley Vineyard experience, tickets to the hottest concerts of the summer and unique golf experiences.
Our Emcee of the evening was, Wendi Nix, ESPN sports anchor and reporter. She was our captain for the evening and even led our notorious, coin flip raffle!
Next up, our Chair of The Board, Sam Schaefer, made his remarks and spoke about his passion for being involved in our organization. Sam then handed it off to our co-founders, Melissa Harper, and Christy Keswick.
Melissa and Christy took this time to update our guests on what Good Sports has been up to since we last met, and shared the incredible impact Good Sports has made over the past 20 years.
Later on in the evening, our keynote speaker, Rhonda Banchero, American former basketball player, who played in college for the Washington Huskies and went on to play professionally for several seasons, including for the Sacramento Monarchs in the WNBA. Rhonda shared about “The Formula,” which has helped her excel as a mother, mentor, athlete and woman. She also spoke about her son, Paolo Banchero, who currently plays in the NBA and just won Rookie of the Year.
To conclude the night, we shared a video, highlighting the journey of Good Sports, from 2003 to now. The video included individuals, who played an instrumental role in helping get Good Sports to where it is today. The individuals in the video are:
Melissa Harper, Good Sports CEO & Co-Founder
Christy Keswick, Good Sports President & Co-Founder
Geoff Hyatt, Good Sports Founding Member
Davin Lencz, Good Sports’ First Employee
Greg Davis, Founder of Metro Boston Alive
Dan Touhey, Former Vice President of Marketing at Spalding
Thanks to everyone’s support, we are proud to share that over $520,000 was raised to help provide new sports and fitness equipment to kids who need it most. We could not have done this without you.
From attendees, sponsors, speakers, and donors, we’re extremely grateful for you all. You all made a life-changing impact on the future for youth athletes in need.
